Hi This is Thomas, Language Director (English and French)
Today was the first full day at the kingdom of MSTERIO! The campers were up bright and early with the sun and today’s word is GIVE ME A HAND!!!
For breakfast we enjoyed such things such as cereal, toast, croissants, yogurt and yakult. After we were all energized the campers were ready for their morning classes. The best thing about MSTERIO for the campers is the power of choice. They can choose whatever activity interests them without being forced.
For the morning classes we had field sports, tennis, swimming and dance. Although rain was predicted all day in the weather forecast we really lucked out especially in the morning and the children were able to fully enjoy all of the morning activities!
In the afternoon we took our lunch break with cold Chinese noodles (Hiyashi Chuka). After lunch clean up it was time for quiet time. During this time campers are allowed to take a nap, draw a picture, write a letter or read a book in our fabulous MSTERIO library. There you can find many books in Japanese as well as in English!
After quiet time, campers decided on their afternoon activity which included English, French, Art, Music and Magic! Having these kinds of unique activities really allows them to explore their creative potential.
On the menu for dinner was fried chicken and salad! After the campers ate their food it was time for the evening event!
Every night at MSTERIO, in the evening after dinner we have a special event. Tonight’s event was candle night! In this event campers gathered together with their counselors and turned off the lights and discussed their secrets, fears or anything on their mind. This provided an opportunity for everyone to bond and become even closer with each other. I think some real close friendships are already forming even only after Day 2!
As the night drew to a close and the sun set on the camp, the campers were anticipating the next day as am I! Watch this space to see what happens on Day 3 in the kingdom of MSTERIO.
