暑すぎたり雨に降られたり悔しい思いをした昨日まででしたが...今朝はすっかり快晴、心地いい適度な水温も確認でき、待望のプール開き！プールも子ども達を待ちわびていたかのように太陽の光でキラキラと輝き、最高の水泳日和。
Due to harshly hot weather and heavy rain, we hadn’t had a chance to swim so far… But finally this morning, we made it to open the swimming pool! The weather was perfect and the water temperature was at a comfortable level. The surface of the water was sparkling reflecting the sunshine as if it was inviting kids to the pool.
36名のキャンパーがMinaのスイミングクラスにサインアップし、鬼ごっこと流れるプールの後は、自由に泳いで遊ぶフリータイム。「やっとスイミングできたー！最初はちょっと冷たかったけど、慣れたら気持ちよくて楽しかった〜！」と満面の笑み。
36 campers signed up for the class led by Mina and fully enjoyed playing tag, lazy river and free time. One of the campers after the class told me “The water was a bit chilly at the beginning, but I soon got used to it. It was so cool and fun!!!” showing a BIG ear-to-grin smile.
午後は私もAikoのダンスクラスに参加してみました。映画「Teen Beach」の楽曲 “Gotta be me”の振り付けをあっという間にマスターする子ども達にびっくりしながら、のぞみ含め大人も数名参加。すっかりダンスにハマり、2時間連続でレッスンを受けるキャンパーもちらほら。
In the afternoon, I also joined a dance class by Aiko, where we (including Nozomi) practiced “Gatta be me” from Teen Beach. We all admired seeing kids copying moves so quickly. Some campers got so excited that they took two classes consecutively.
そして夜は待ちに待ったダンスナイト！！！キャンパー達が集まってくる頃にはホール中にフライドチキンとピザの美味しそうな香りが。食事後、ホールはクラブハウスに一変。暗闇で歌って踊ることを楽しむ子どももいれば、玄関ホールのスペースで音楽を楽しみながらスナックをつまむ子どもも。イベント前にのぞみがアナウンスした通り、MSTERIOではみんなが一様に同じ行動をしなければならない場面はほとんどありません。 子ども達にはオプションの中から自分の好きな過ごし方を選ぶ自由があり、今夜は大勢で踊ってもいいし、静かな空間でゆっくり過ごしてもいい。これも違いを称賛するMSTERIOの素敵なところだなと感じながら、思い思いに時間を過ごす子ども達の姿を微笑しく眺めました。
And in the evening… Dance night!!!!!! The Sugoi Hall got filled with the tasty smell of fried chicken and pizza by the time all the campers gathered. The hall turned into a club house after the meal. Kids in the hall enjoyed singing and dancing in the dark, while some kids decided to spend time at the entrance hall chilling out enjoying the sounds and snacks. As Nozomi announced at the beginning of the evening, it’s almost never the case that everyone has to do the same thing at MSTERIO, but kids always have the liberty to choose from options given; dancing in the crowd or spending time at a calm place following their own will. MSTERIO celebrates differences and children seem to respect and enjoy the way we do things in this space.
